Classes

Regular, weekly classes are held throughout the year at five locations in London, St. Margaret’s Church, Streatham Hill, La Caseta Flamenca, Streatham,  City Lit, Covent Garden and Flow Dance, Oval.

 

Private classes are also available for individuals and small groups. These can be in a hired studio or in the company's purpose-built studio, Streatham, South London.

Saturdays throughout July 2025 , then NO classes during AUGUST and SEPTEMBER Summer break.

3.30pm – 4.30pm. £8 drop-in / £5 per class when paid monthly in advance.

Absolute beginners welcome as well as the more experienced students wishing to consolidate the basics and learn new routines and performance dances.


Whatever your previous dance experience, you will develop posture, presence, body-confidence, coordination and style, while learning all the fundamental moves and grooves of Spanish ‘gitano’ dance.

Flamenco Open Level in Studio and Online

 

Mondays 3 May to 28 July 2025 – EXCEPT for the last Monday of every month. see next entry below....
6:30 – 7:00 Castanets. £6 per class.

7:00 – 7:30 Recap (for previous students). FREE.

7:30 – 9:00 Open Level Class. £15 per class.

 

These dual-delivery classes are ideal for absolute beginners, as well as for experienced students wishing to consolidate & extend their training in fundamental Flamenco dance technique (posture, footwork coordination & speed, arm & wrist moves, markings, turns etc.) AND embark on NEW choreography and fresh performance opportunities.

Flamenco Singing for Everyone


On the LAST Monday of every month, the dance class will run partly in parallel with a Flamenco SINGING CLASS:
26 May, 30 June and 28 July 2025.


SINGING STUDENTS: attend 7.30pm to 9.00pm, £12 per class.
DANCE STUDENTS: join 8.15pm to 9.00pm, £6 per class.


Come sing with open heart and clap along to Spanish Romani rhythms - no previous experience needed, just curiosity and a willingness to give it a go!


Students will be provided with print-outs of the lyrics, translations and links to recordings for reference and inspiration.
Dance students join for the second half of the class and will be taught steps and moves to match the singing.


As with the weekly dance classes, each student - whether in the studio or at home online - will be given personalised feedback and guidance in every session, with access to notes, music and tuition videos for (optional) home practise.

1:1 private class are available at La Caseta Flamenca, a fully-equipped south-London Dance & Drama studio with sprung floor and wall mirrors.


£45 per hour / £55 per 90mins.

Flamenco: Style and Grace

 

Wednesday 16, Thursday 17 and Friday 18 July 2025.

This Open Level course is a practical dance class in which you will learn, practice and perform a variety of fundamental movements to improve your style and grace in Flamenco dance, including posture, body motions, arm movements and wrists curls. The course will culminate in a short dance sequence developed over the three mornings, and there may an opportunity for students to perform this 'work in progress' on the evening of Wednesday 23rd July in the Fiesta Flamenca de Verano and/or the afternoon of Sunday 27th July in the Dance Showcase, both at City Lit John Lyons Theatre.

Flamenco: Performance and Power


Sunday 27 July and Sunday 3 August 2025.

This Open Level course, separate but complementary to the ‘Style and Grace’ summer flamenco dance courses, will focus on archetypal flamenco dance steps and moves that accompany ‘Farruca’ music. With emphasis on dancing style, performance presence and panache, the course will culminate in a short dance sequence with live guitar accompaniment. Suitable for men and women of all ages, from beginners to improvers. There may an opportunity for students to perform this 'work in progress' on the evening of Wednesday 23rd July in the Fiesta Flamenca de Verano and/or the afternoon of Sunday 27th July in the Dance Showcase, both at City Lit John Lyons Theatre.

Flamenco: Beginners

 

Thursday 18 September to 4 December 2025 = 12 sessions over 12 weeks (NO Half Term break).

In this dynamic and friendly class, you will learn fundamental Flamenco dance moves, technique, steps and rhythms accompanied with live flamenco guitar accompaniment. A series of exercises will lead to a short dance sequence, you will develop style, presence and co-ordination. You may have the option to perform the dance in an informal end-of-term Christmas Fiesta showing.

Flamenco: Improvers and Intermediate

 

Thursday 18 September to 4 December July 2025 = 12 sessions over 12 weeks (NO Half Term break).

A friendly, intensive class, with live guitar accompaniment, that focuses on the confident execution of Flamenco dance with pleasure, passion and panache. Performance opportunities throughout the year. These classes are suitable for those who have taken regular Flamenco dance classes for at least a year.

You will be embodying a variety of Flamenco ‘palos’ (Flamenco ‘forms’), so as to dance with ‘Flamencura’, that magic that happens when strong technical skill combines with authentic personal expression.

Flow Dance, Oval

 

Flamenco and Castanets, Open Level


Thursdays 6 March to 31 July 2025.

6.30pm – 8.00pm. £15 per drop-in class.


Absolute beginners welcome as well as the more experienced students. No dance partner required, but friends welcome!

In these fun and dynamic dance classes, for women and men of all ages, you can enjoy 90mins of foot stomping, wrist-curling, arm-weaving, skirt-swirling, hip-swaying, heart-pounding (and castanet-clacking) Spanish dance joy and power! Whatever your previous dance experience, you will develop posture, presence, body-confidence, suppleness, coordination and style.


You will learn the authentic moves of 'Flamenco Gitano'. Attention to the technique of moves will feed into a wide range of short combinations, leading to a whole dance sequence and to end-of-term performance opportunities.
